Activities galore in YUGAM-22
Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University, Gurugram, organized its first inter-university Youth Festival Yugam-2022 from May 19 to 21, 2022. As many as 33 competitions – 17 in culture, 10 in academics, and 6 in sports -were organized during this event. The concluding ceremony and award distribution function was organized at the Shooting Floor in A Block of the University.
Arjuna Awardee Olympian swimmer Sandeep Sejwal was the chief guest during the event. Chairperson Mrs. Madhupreet Kaur Chawla and managing trustee Mr. Manmohan Singh Chawla, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Vinod Kumar, Dean, Students Welfare (DSW) Dr. Vijay Sharma, and several other deans and faculty members were present during the occasion.
While addressing the valedictory ceremony, Mr. Sandeep Sejwal praised the zeal of the management team of Yugma-2022. He said that he is feeling very happy to see so many youths participating in various categories including sports after two long years of waiting due to Covid-19. Mr. Sejwal distributed trophies and appreciation certificates to the winners.
Mr. Sejwal said that the youth must push themselves to the limits and give their best performance. He said that the youth festival is a big stage for the youths to showcase their talent.
The VC Prof Vinod Kumar congratulated the managing committee of Youth Festival Yugam-2022 and in a poetic way he said that “Agar yuva chahe to registan me bhe phool khila de”. He said that those who got second and third positions must try hard to get the first position in the future.
Dr. Vijay Sharma, Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW) said that during these three days, SGT University organised 33 different events at various locations inside the campus. He said that more than 1,000 students from 70 different institutes, colleges and universities participated. He praised the passion of the coordinators and sponsors. He said that the SGT University provided free transportation and accommodation facilities for the participants coming from various locations. Dean of various departments, faculty members, staff, and students were present during the valedictory ceremony of Yugam-2022.
Earlier, the three-day Youth Festival Yugam-2022, commenced at Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary (SGT) University, Gurugram on May 19. Renowned Kathak Dancer Ms. Anu Sinha was the chief guest for the opening event and inaugurated the festival with a lamp lighting ceremony along with Mrs. Madhupreet Kaur Chawla, Chairperson, Mr. Manmohan Singh Chawla, Managing Trustee, of Dashmesh Educational Charitable Trust, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Vinod Kumar, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vikas Dhawan, and Director of Students Welfare, Dr. Vijay Sharma.
While addressing the students and the participants, chief guest Ms. Anu Sinha said that the Youth Festival is a big platform for the students to showcase their talent. She further said that besides celebrations, the students must understand the importance of nature and they must involve themselves in sapling plantations to save the earth from global warming. Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Vinod Kumar welcomed all the students and participants.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Vikas Dhawan praised the zeal of the youths of SGT University and participants and said that a total of 33 events will take place from May 19 to May 21. Prof. Dhawan further said that a total of 15 events were held on the first day under various categories like sports, culture, and academics.
On the first day of Yugam-2022, students from various colleges and universities participated in the event. A total of 15 events like cooking, debate, solo dance, business plan, rangoli, best out of waste, tattoo making, land gaming, short film, word chain, and Nukkad Natak were the events that took place at various locations of SGT University.
